JORGE E. RIVERA JIMÉNEZ SEGUROS Y FIANZAS was established in May 1990 in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, by Mr. Jorge E. Rivera Jiménez after realizing the need for a local agency specializing in Professional Liability Insurance.
Since we started operations over 34 years ago, we have focused on providing Professional Liability business writing hospitals, emergency rooms, physicians, pharmacists, dentists, managed care corporations, medical corporations, psychologists, nurses, laboratories, architects, engineers, lawyers, optometrists, etc.
Mr. Rivera has 50 years of experience in the insurance industry, of which over 27 have worked directly with Professional Liability. He started in 1975 as Manager at South Continental Insurance Agency, a local insurance agency. After 6 years with SCIA he joins Sedgwick James, a multinational insurance brokerage firm, as administrator of their Physicians Professional Program. The Puerto Rico Medical Association endorsed this program back in 1981. In 1986, Marsh and McLennan, another multinational brokerage firm, offered Mr. Rivera the position of Vice-President of Operations in charge of its local Health Care Division.
The agency's staff comprises 12 employees, all trained in different insurance specialties. There are several departments, of which the most important are the Professional Liability Programs, Commercial Lines, and Personal Lines Departments.
The Agency currently represents 21 insurance companies as agents, 12 as General Agent, and manages the National Dental, Optometric, Architects & Engineers, and Lawyers programs for several insurance carriers. JORGE E. RIVERA JIMÉNEZ SEGUROS Y FIANZAS received the “Marketer of the Year” award and the “Highest Production” award (50 States) in 1999, 2000, and 2001 for the Dental programs.
Mr. Rivera maintains his expertise in the Professional Liability area by attending seminars, keeping himself updated on current trends in the market, and complying with continuous education as required by the Insurance Commissioners Office of Puerto Rico. He is also a member of the American Hospital Risk Management Society, The Professional Liability Underwriters Society, The National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research, and the Professional Insurance Agents Association.
As part of our services, we offer our clients Risk Management Assessments, and Risk Management Seminars for the staff, and we participate actively in developing the Risk Management Committee and attending to its meetings.
